Sammy Baugh Has Died

The greatest Redskin ever

Redskins quarterback Sammy Baugh has died.

A football pioneer, Slingin Sammy led the Redskins to two NFL Championships, in 1937 and 1942. A record setting quarterback, punter and defensive back, Sammy helped usher in the passing game in the NFL and was a charter member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Even Redskins fans born 40 years after Sammy's last game know what he meant to Redskins football, he was the man singularly responsible for making Washington a football town. Sammy will be missed.
