Welcome Back Nick?

From the West Lafayette Tastee Freeze to, well, you get it

The Washington Post is reporting that John Hall may be done for now, or for the season, with leg injuries, and that University of Maryland's own Nick Novak is coming in for a tryout. This should make Burgundy and Gold at the Hail Redskins blog quite happy. As Curly R reported last month, B&G has a healthy mancrush on Nick:

For those of you who didn’t know, Nick Novak can cure all sorts of kicking and sports-related ailments. He slices, he dices, he folds up neatly and is dishwasher safe. But he certainly doesn’t shank. In fact, there’s a story going around that one of his extra points last season careened off of the back of the net at FedEx, fell on a person with a limp and immediately cured him

This is John's fourth season with the Redskins, and he's had the injury bug the past three. He missed 8 games in 2004 with a strained quadriceps before finishing that season on IR. In 2005, he factored into the 9-7 season-openging win over the Bears, but re-injured the same quad at the end of the game. He missed the next 6 games of 2005, and was in obvious pain by the end of the that season. He had surgery to re-attach abdominal muscles to his pelvic bone (wonder if this was like Shawn Spring's surgery?) in January of 2006, which had been causing him to overcompensate, injuring his right side. Now it's groin and thigh, so maybe it's the same thing still bothering him. This will probably be it for John Hall in a Redskins uniform. Thanks for everything, you were pretty steady when you were in there. John's numbers for the Redskins:

4 seasons
69 FG attempts
54 FG made
78% FG conversion

His best season with the Redskins was 2003:
8-8 20-29 yards
7-9 30-39 yards
6-9 40-49 yards
4-7 50+ yards
101 total points
