Department of Bad News: Rocky McIntosh

Done

Rocky McIntosh got tangled up in a pile in the the first quarter of Sunday's game against the Giants, he left the game and did not come back. News now is that Rocky tore up his anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments in his left leg, the team has placed him on injured reserve and he is done for the season. Carlos Rogers had the same injury back in October and now the Redskins will have to finish their push for the playoffs without quarterback Jason Campbell, Carlos, Rocky and the deceased Sean Taylor.

Talk about a tough row to hoe. This is a nine to 18 month injury in terms of complete recovery so it is likely we will not see Rocky back until the second half of the 2008 season, at the earliest.

Rocky played relatively little last season as a rookie second round draft pick, playing lots of special teams and at weakside linebacker behind Warrick Holdman. Going into the 2007 season Rocky solidified himself as the starter at the position and has played well, in fact the starters linebacking corps of Rocky, middle linebacker London Fletcher and strongside linebacker Marcus Washington has been an outstanding unit when they have played together (Marcus has missed four games this season with a hamstring).

Now it's time to make it work with someone else and that someone else will be two someones, rookie sixth round pick HB Blades and sixth year veteran Khary Campbell. This brings the Redskins' IR list to ten players, second year linebacker Matt Sinclair may see some action and the Redskins may put another linebacker on the practice squad.
