5 Questions with the Cowboys

Time to get out of bed and get off the Norpramin, the Redskins are back and it's Dallas week again! After watching the roller coaster of Dallas' total collapse against the Giants two weeks ago and the Panthers' total collapse against the Cowboys last week, what's a Redskins fan to think? Did Bill Parcells just magically snatch his reputation from the medicine jar of Terrell Owens? Does Tony Romo make anyone else think of garlic bread? But I digress, it's Brandon's turn to ask the questions.

Once again, please welcome Dave at Blogging the Boys to the Curly R 5 Questions...Return Trip Edition! Read on and head over there and drop a comment. Brandon's answers to Dave's questions are here. The power of positive thinking: the Redskins can win this game. *ahem* Could. The Redskins could win this game.

==========

Curly R: I know that there are some old rivalries in the NFC East, but the NFL has almost completely sensibly realigned itself according to geography- except for the NFC East. What would Cowboys fans say to switching places with the Carolina Panthers in the NFC South? Wouldn't it be more exciting to play Tampa, Atlanta and New Orleans rather than the stodgy NFC East?

Blogging the Boys: This question sounds to me like a Redskin fan wishing that the Dallas Cowboys would quit beating up on them twice a year. We like it in the NFC East, in fact, it's kind of like our birthright to rule the division, which we hope to be doing again soon.

Curly R: A few years ago Terrell Owens caused a huge uproar by spiking the ball on the Cowboys' star logo in the middle of the field after a touchdown. Now he wears that same star on his helmet. Did Jerry Jones or anyone else bake him a crow pie when he signed with Dallas?

Blogging the Boys: Now that he wears the star, he is a star, so he can stand on the star, while the defense is star-struck. Just win, baby! Wait a minute...that's the wrong franchise...I mean...'How 'bout them Cowboys'!

Curly R: Is the alleged rivalry with the Redskins as intense in Dallas as it is in D.C.? It's all anyone can talk about up here.

Blogging the Boys: I don't live in Dallas so I'm not sure of the mood itself in the city, but Cowboys fans nationwide like nothing better than beating up on the Redskins. In my opinion it's still our #1 rivalry, although the Eagles are trying to make a push. But with all the history and the great games between Dallas and Washington, I think it will forever remain the rivalry in the NFL.

Curly R: Emmitt Smith was easily one of the greatest Cowboys players of all time. Did it make you sad to watch him fizzle out in Arizona instead of finishing his career in Dallas?

Blogging the Boys: Emmit Smith never played in Arizona, I'm telling you, it just didn't happen. Kind of like The Godfather III never happened and Kiss playing without their makeup never happened. I swear, these events are not recorded in my memory bank.

Curly R: Tony Romo makes a few starts and all of a sudden the comparisons start to Favre, Brady, etc. Do you think Romo will really be one of the great QBs of this era or is this just another product of the ESPN's hype factory?

Blogging the Boys: Tony Romo shows enormous promise, but as Parcells likes to say, "Let's not put him in Canton just yet." But watching him last Sunday, you didn't come away with the impression that he was lucky, but that he actually knew what he was doing and had the skills to execute the Cowboys offense. Right now, I'd say the odds are better that he will be good to great rather than a one-hit wonder.

Curly R Bonus Question: What is the second half of this refrain?: The stars at night, are big and bright....

Blogging the Boys: ...deep in the heart of Romo-land!
