Not Good

The best part about making the rules is I get to make them up

You know it is going to be bad when this is the flagship paper Redskins section front page teaser for the story:

Portis Blasts Zorn

It's certainly not all smiles at Redskins Park these days, as Clinton Portis unloads on Jim Zorn during his John Thompson Show appearance, over and over again.

Redskins tailback Clinton Portis went on John Thompson's radio show today and basically said head coach Jim Zorn threw him under the bus, that by making Clinton's second half benching in the Sunday night loss to the Ravens about practice or lack thereof, pass blocking and route running or Ladell Betts' better performance thereof, that coach Zorn is being insincere, that Clinton knows the playbook better than any non quarterback Redskin and he should have been in the game.

The implication further would seem to be that Clinton does not feel even with his injury situation that Ladell Betts gives the team a better chance to win, which may or may not be true, Clinton certainly is not the one to make that call. Clinton even mentioned maybe the team should put him on injured reserve if they think he is hurt too badly to contribute, and perhaps even consider whether they should quote split ties unquote with him.

Great. Now there is open conflict between the veteran star tailback with the fat contract and the rookie head coach trying to keep his team focused on the goal, needing three wins in three games. This is exactly not what the Redskins need right now, there are too many fans ready to be done with Jim Zorn after one year, you will never find me blindly toeing the company line but come on, Clinton Portis complaining about communication? Everybody needs to go upstairs and take a nap then come down and hug it out.

And here's a real pisser for you, Clinton got on the radio and bashed Jim Zorn, then Jim Zorn got on the same station an hour later and stuck to his talking points, those same ones Clinton attempted to debunk as insincere an hour earlier. Which station? Dan Snyder's ESPN 980. Conflatulations Dan, you own the medium through which your team may now disintegrate.

I have not heard the audio yet, I will be following this story tomorrow (Wednesday), there will be other coverage, and if I can find a link to the audio I will post it up.
