Preseason Game 2: Redskins (1-0) vs Steelers (1-1)

vs

Time for some football. The Redskins and Steelers play their regular preseason game tonight at Redskins Stadium in Washington DC Raljon MD Landover Maryland. It should be a good game though expect to see the Steelers playing harder and with the starters for longer. New coach Mike Tomlin is running an aggressive camp and the Steelers are still running two a days. Joe Gibbs wants to see what his players have and keep alive the myth that this season's camp is tougher than last season's, but Joe won't want to see anyone get hurt.

The Post's quick preview (op. cit.) asks many of the same questions I have. To wit:

The offensive line. The line's performance was not spectacular last week against the Titans and things are worse this week. Mike Pucillo fills in at left guard for Todd Wade, himself a converted laft tackle while the Stephon Heyer Experiment continues at left tackle for the injured Chris Samuels.

Jason Campbell. Will he be better than last week and does the makeshift offensive line put him at greater risk. All in all I was satisfied with everything Jason did last week except the fumbling.

Kicking game. Shaun Suisham missed a long one last week and there are no kickers or punters in camp challenging Shaun and Derrick Frost. I think they may need some competition.

Beyond that there are several starters out gimpy. Of course Clinton Portis is out. Is anyone else worried that by getting to sit everything out he will not be in game shape on 9 September? And what happened to Reed Doughty's eye?

Defensively the Redskins looked good last week and I want more more more. I still worry about the defensive line though.

Players I'm looking at: WR Mike Espy. He saw a lot of action last week and it seems as though the coaching staff is looking for a reason to keep him. Mike vs. Corey Bradford vs. Todd Pinkston is an interesting competition for number four with Carl Berman and Burl Ives Toler hoping for some leftovers at number five.

RB Marcus Mason. I've adopted him and think he deserves a spot over Derrick Blaylock at number three running back.

TE Eric Edwards. He looked good in the fourth quarter last week catching three passes on the Redskins only (offensive) scoring drive. I'd like to see him play some in the first half.

Just please show me a little more than last week.

This is a gameday open thread.
