The Redskins Are the Best Team in the NFL

Steady as she goes

Update, 10am: Tim in comments points me to the Massey Ratings, this is a different ratings system and also has the Redskins at number one overall, number one schedule difficulty so far, the NFC Beast as the top division in the league, NFC West and AFC North as the two worst divisions in the league and the Lions, the Redskins' week eight opponent as the worst team in the league, thanks for the head's up Tim!

Well at least according to one system of ratings. With a hat tip to Spence at DC Pro Sports Report I found Jeff Sagarin's NFL ratings at USA Today. Some interesting tidbits at 25 percent through the season:

Redskins are the highest overall rated team in the league.

Redskins have played the hardest schedule so far this season.

The NFC Beast is the highest rated division in the league.

The bottom two rated divisions are the NFC West and the AFC North. This season the Redskins play all eight teams in those two divisions.

The Lions are the Redskins remaining non common conference opponent, the Saints were the first, and the Lions are rated number 31.

And we know for better or for worse the Redskins road division schedule is over after Sunday.

There is other good news as well, check out Greg Trippiedi's game tape offense breakdown at Hog Heaven. I'll post the defensive breakdown here when it appears. Post Game Heroes has an offense breakdown by Biggie, I'll look for Dillweed's tape breakdowns later in the week.
