You Worry About What Happens on the Field, I'll Worry About What Happens in the Stands

Sorry guys no can do

Brian Murphy at the terrific Homer McFanboy two weeks ago had a quote from Redskins left guard Pete Kendall, that when we go to games we need to quiet down when the Redskins have the ball. The sentiment is broached by team owned property The ORB (Official Redskins Blog) here, here during the Rams game and and again here today.

Ok so understanding that no one in the home crowd deliberately cheers in an attempt to disrupt the offense's rhythm, this is bullshit, the team needs pull on its big boy britches and not set up the home crowd for non performance blame.

The Redskins have a late arriving, not always focused, self involved and heavily entitled crowd. There is very little of the blue collar I'll do whatever you want to help you win so I can feel better about my miserable life and a lot more of the circus maximus you serve at my pleasure in the stands at Redskins games.

Redskins fans do not cheer in an effort to disrupt the game but they sure as shit do talk, eat, drink, mash Blackberries, blather on mobile phones and generally get distracted with the best of em in the league. And due to its location and transient nature many teams have large contingents of fans that attend Redskins games.

Note to Pete Kendall and the team: the stands are never full when you start the game, Redskins Stadium is not the loudest place in the league, the fans are rarely 100 percent focused and thanks to the large number of visiting fans at a typical big game you guys need to work out the noise issue on your own. Do not make this my problem.

The Redskins imploring their fans to be quiet from here via here.
