Brandon Lloyd, Pinerider

But something's not right about this guy either

The Redskins telegraphed that they would not use a roster spot freed by putting Jon Jansen on injured reserve for an offensive lineman and they did not.

Instead that have signed receiver Reche Caldwell, late of the New England Patriots. Anecdotally one would think that within a few games Brandon Lloyd will be the number four or lower receiver and Reche will be in at number three at the least.

But something doesn't sit right about this. Reche spent his first four seasons with the San Diego Chargers and tallied 76 catches over that period. He spent 2006 as the Patriots leading receiver catching 61 passes for 710 yards as the team won its staredown with receiver Deion Branch who wound up in Seattle after a holdout.

Then the Patriots signed Randy Moss, Donte Stallworth and Wes Welker and Bill Belichick decided to let Reche go. Why?

Was Reche the leading receiver simply because someone has to be? With Santana Moss and Antwaan Randle El the first two options will Reche disappear a la Brandon Lloyd? And it seems Shaun Bodiford's time with the Redskins may be over, the team is now carrying six receivers and Shaun is low man on the totem pole.

Whatever, welcome aboard Reche, get up on some film. And Brandon, this is it baby, your time to show you are merely a bust and not a yuge bust is at hand.
