The Moment Ends, For Now

Hope to see you back soon

The Redskins released tailback Marcus Mason, Curly R's 2007 preseason adoptee. He made the roster against long odds, though the Redskins are still carrying only two players capable of carrying the ball on every down, Clinton Portis and Ladell Betts. Rock Cartwright is not an option as a feature ballcarrier.

If Marcus clears waivers the team may sign him back to the practice squad. It would not shock me if another team thnarfed him up off waiverth. Master4Caster at Running Redskins called the move to release him and hope he clear waivers 'risky.' I agree and hope he catches on somewhere if not with the Redskins of for no other reason than I get to write about another bad team decision in letting him go.

In other news, injuries to safeties Pierson Prioleau (hamstring) and Vernon Fox (groin) have prompted the team to give Omar Stoutmire a call. Omar came back to the Redskins from New Orleans this offseason and was released in the final round of cuts.

Linebacker Anthony Trucks and receiver Burl Ives Toler were also released from the practice squad and the team signed 6-3 322 lb offensive guard Justin Geisinger to serve as insurance policy along with Kili Lefotu in the aftermath of Jon Jansen's season ending injury. The Redskins are now carrying (∞ - 1) receivers.
